This handy little TSR program allows the user to alter the keyboard
delay and keyboard (type-a-matic) repeat rate on an AT-style keyboard.
It will load most of itself into LIM memory , if available, only
occupying 1184 bytes of conventional (low) memory. It can be loaded into
high memory (if your system supports high memory) by using the dos command:
LOADHIGH KBDTSR
or
LH KBDTSR
If extended memory is not available, then the program will occupy about 7K
of conventional memory.
Once loaded, it remains active until either the user unloads it, or the
system is rebooted.
To unload the program, the user simply types:
KBDTSR /U
In order to be able to unload the program, it must be the LAST TSR loaded,
so any other TSR's loaded AFTER KBDTSR must be unloaded before trying to
unload KBDTSR. Otherwise a message will appear indicated that it cannot
be unloaded.
To activate the program, the user needs only to press the ALT-K. Then the
The screen is cleared and the user will be prompted first for the keyboard
delay 0 through 3 (this is the amount of time, in multiples of 250 millisec)
that a key must be held down before it begins to autorepeat ("type-a-matic").
Next, the user will be prompted for the repeat rate, approximately 1-32 times
per second. Then, the program will deactivate itself and restore the user's
screen.
This program can be activated ("invoked") any time, including during the
running of any other program. If used with other TSR programs, however,
KBDTSR should be loaded BEFORE the other programs.
